Trees of Weston

Trees of Weston

This project, started in June 2018, aims to identify and catalogue the trees of Weston. It is modelled on the excellent Trees of Bristol website https://bristoltrees.space/ but covers a much smaller area. Weston Town Council have shared data on over 700 trees and volunteers have mapped a number more, mostly in the town centre and Grove Park.

Many residents are dismayed by the felling, especially of roadside trees, and our hope is that by keeping a watchful eye on the situation this decline can be reversed.

The Civic Society has a strong record of planting trees, notably many in the town centre. In recent years we have donated funds for further planting but have been frustrated by the lukewarm response from North Somerset Council.

Much more needs to be done and volunteers will be very welcome. A knowledge of tree species is not essential but any with specialist skills will be particularly welcome.

We invite members of the public to become actively involved, to post their comments on the project and pictures of their favourite Weston trees on the dedicated Facebook Page.
