Monday 8th September 2025

The Winterstoke Road Bridge

Engineers, Octavius, are replacing Weston-super-Mare's vital 1943 Winterstoke Road bridge over the railway. Chris Hudson, Octavius Delivery Director for Highways, will explain the engineering behind this crucial community project and how they plan to minimise disruption and restore full road capacity by June 2026.

A talk on the Western Forest programme. Learn about this initiative's goal to plant 20 million trees by 2050, which aims to promote nature recovery, climate resilience, and community benefits in our region. Explore this vital project for a greener North Somerset.

 Avon Fire & Rescue share the services and response offered at Weston Fire Station

And they may even bring a fire engine!  Unless they get a shout of course.

In the first of two talks, Birnbeck Regeneration Trust archivist Peter Lander recounts the history of the iconic Birnbeck Pier, or, as Peter more accurately describes it, the Birnbeck Bridge. Peter celebrates the heyday of this well-loved Weston monument.
